We received a pleasant phone call from John Capron, Vice President of the Haartz Corporation. For those of you that don't know, the Haartz Corporation supplies convertible topping material for virtually every convertible manufactured throughout the world! Mr. Capron was impressed by the thoroughness of the information we offer on our web site but wished to point out that the cleaners and protectants we were recommending for fabric convertible top care were not recommended by the Haartz Corporation.

Raggtopp cleaner safely removes the toughest roof soils and stains. It will not harm automotive finishes, chrome, glass, vinyl, rubber or plastic windows.

Application is easy.

Here's the factory recommended procedure for cleaning fabric and vinyl convertible tops:

Vacuum the dry top using a brush attachment to remove loose dirt.
Rinse the top with water.
Spray Raggtopp cleaner evenly over entire roof and scrub with a nylon bristle brush (RaggTopp recommends our Natural Horse Hair Convertible Top Brush or sponge to loosen bird droppings, tree sap, oils and soot.
Rinse thoroughly with water until no remaining soap foam is observed.
Dry with a lint-free towel like the Big Blue Microfiber Drying Towel.
After the top is thoroughly dry, spray with Raggtopp Protectant(cloth tops only) to renew water repellency.

That pretty much sums it up. Both the Haartz Corporation and Rode & Schwalenberg Gmbh. (Germany) recommend only Wolfstein's Raggtopp Protectant for treating fabric convertible tops. Haartz and R & S supply 98% of the convertible top material used by the world's automakers. (There is a small supplier in Japan that supplies topping fabric to some of Japan's automakers.)

Over three years of product research and testing has gone into this product. Raggtopp Protectant micro-bonds to the convertible top material, renewing and extending the life of fabric tops. Water repellency renews after each treatment once the top is completely dry. Raggtopp Protectant contains no silicone, freon or CFC's. It is ozone friendly and meets California air quality standards. This is the only product for protecting fabric convertible tops that passed all of Haartz Corporation's extensive tests and is the only product endorsed by Haartz and R & S. (Porsche Tequipment Cabrio Top Protectant and 303 High Tech Fabric Guard did not pass all of Haartz Corporation's tests and are not approved by Haartz or R & S.)

Application is easy:

Apply to a clean, thoroughly dry fabric top. (For best results, clean top with Raggtopp Cleaner before applying protectant.)
Shake can well before use and every 3-4 minutes during spraying.
Hold can upright and spray evenly 8-12 inches from material.
Spray three light coats allowing top to dry 10 to 15 minutes between coats.
Allow 24 hours for the micro-bonding process to set.

It is not necessary to mask off chrome, glass or paint. Simply wipe off over spray with a clean, dry cotton or Microfiber towel. Raggtopp Protectant can be applied in direct sunlight.
